Bookreporter Talks To… Meg Mitchell Moore

Meg Mitchell Moore talks to Carol Fitzgerald about VACATIONLAND, her latest novel, which is set in Maine. The home in the book is loosely based on a home that her friends own in Maine. She loves visiting there and setting a book there was a joy. The book opens with a woman on a bus coming to town, which Meg notes hits the theme — “a stranger comes to town.” From there why she is there is juxtaposed around the story of Louisa and her children who are set to spend a wonderful summer at her parents’ home. But her father is slipping with Alzheimer’s and that causes a pall over the usual summer vibe. She talked about how she worked on the pacing for secrets kept and secrets revealed.
