Emma Straub Shines at the Morristown Festival of Books Summer Spotlight

“What is it like to be a person? What is it like to fall in love? What is it like to fall out of love? What is it like to have children who grow up?”

Such were the questions The New York Times-bestselling novelist Emma Straub asked a rapt audience in the Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum in   Morris Township Tuesday, June 6th.

Straub was the featured guest for the Morristown Festival of Books’ Summer Spotlight Event.

A packed crowd of more than 250 guests tuned in to hear the author of “Modern Lovers” and “The Vacationers” discuss her influences and the writing process.

The event was moderated by Carol Fitzgerald, the co-founder and president of The Book Report Network, an online resource for book reviews and recommendations, as well as author profiles.

The rapport between the two felt like the Platonic ideal of a great book club—the conversation informative, intimate, and, above all, clever and amusing.
